    Sertab Erener was born in Istanbul in 1964. She started the professional career in the world of music from training in the Istanbul Municipality Conservatory, and then has continued study in the Turkish Government Conservatory. After the finishing study of the Conservatory on a class a coloratura-soprano, Sertab began to act in some popular clubs of  Istanbul with her own group. At the end of 80-s' years she worked as the back-vocalist with Sezen Aksu - the female singer named queen of turkish pop.

    Sertab is well familiar with the Eurovision, she took part in the turkish finals of a songs choice twice - in 1989 and 1990 . In Europe she is known due to songs, had sung together with Mando (the singer representing Greece in the same 2003 on Eurovision Song Contest), Voice Male and Ricky Martin. Besides Sertab repeatedly received Sony Music awards for her albums, which were on sale in millions copies. She - one of the most popular singers of  Turkey, at present time at she have released seven different albums. Her concerts and tours draw attention of admirers both in the Turkey, and behind its borders.

    Turkish Radio - television Corporation (TRT) has suggested Sertab Erener to represent Turkey on Eurovision Song Contest 2003. Having put a condition, that the contest song should be sing in English, Sertab has accepted the tempting offer and has composed three various songs. TRT has chosen song Every Way That I Can which lyrics had write by Sertab Erener and Demir Demirkan, and music was composed by one Demir Demirkan. By the way speaking, many Turks objected against to that the song is written in English. However Sertab’s performance had shown, that TRT has made a right choice. Sertab Erener speaks about Every Way That I Can - “it is a song about the woman, which would use any opportunity to return the her loved person”.

    Performance of Erener was a combination of belly dance with turkish rhythms and the western pop. As appeared, it was the successful combination, it has allowed Turkey to win the first place on Eurovision Song Contest 2003 which has been carried out on May, 24. Sertab Erener appeared on stage of the fourth number ogf performance. TRT had made live translation of the Contest.

    Turkey for the first time has taken part in Eurovision Song Contest in 1975 with a song “Semiha Yank”. Till now Turkey already 24 times participated in Contest. For the last years it has reached the best result in 1997, taken the third place with a song “Listen”. Turkey was represented already on the Eurovision with popular turkish pop groups and singers - MF, Ajda Pekkan, Nilfer, Kayahan and Neco. But with a song in English the representative of Turkey acted for the first time.

    Sertab Erener has told, that many various people have congratulated her with the victory on Eurovision Song Contest, and has added, that she is very happy. Also Sertab has told, that she is very glad both congratulations from officials of the state, and congratulations from the her friends. Hundreds inhabitants of Turkey, swinging turkish flags and balloons, welcomed Sertab Erener at home on May, 26, 2003. The president of Turkey Ahmet Necdet Sezer, prime minister Tayyip Erdoan, the speaker of parliament, and also general director of TRT Haluk Buran had acted on the occasion of a victory of  Turkey in Eurovision Song Contest 2003. Foreign minister and vice-premier, who had called to Sertab by phone, also have congratulated her. Together with the her back-vocalists and the dancers, who acted together with her at Eurovision stage, Sertab Erener has been accepted by president Sezer in a presidential palace, and, besides by the prime minister in his prime-ministery and by the speaker of parliament (in parliament, naturally;-) on May, 27, 2003.

    Due to the Sertab Erener’s victory,  49-th Eurovision Song Contest 2004 will be carried out in Turkey.

No, with such manners Sertab precisely together with Ozzy to act it is necessary. To her still a couple of black leather bracelets - and in group Rammstein  for work, yea ? ;-)
