Birgitta Haukdal was born on July, 28, 1979 and has lived in the small city of Húsavik in the north of Iceland the most part of the her life.
In November, 1999 Birgitta became the leading vocalist of pop-group Irafar. The group has released the first single Hvar er ég ? (Where am I ?) at summer of 2000, which has followed two more singles, released in 2001.
In 2002 group Irafar has concluded the contract with the largest recording company of Iceland - Skifan. In the beginning of November of the same year their first album Allt sem ég sé (All I see) has been released. This album has received great reviews and there was most sold Icelandic album for last 25 years, having reached the platinum status (this is unusual in Iceland).
At present time, Birgitta Haukdal - the most popular pop - singer in Iceland. For the period 2001 - 2003 she had received set of various musical awards, including awards The Pop - Star of Year and Performer of Year. Also Birgitta - the talented poetess, and she writes verses for the majority of the songs herself.
On horoscope Birgitta - the Leo, she drives Volkswagen Polo and and lists her favourite TV shows as Will & Grace and Ally McBeal, movie-wise she opts for Dumb and Dumber. Her favourite color - blue, her passions - music, food and sports. Her motto - Smile and the whole world will smile with you.

Show was perfect, and it was her best performance on this stage (before final performance Birgitta sang on this stage twice during rehearsals). It is the 4-th best result of Iceland for a 17-th years old history Iceland particapations in Eurovision Song Contest . By the way, on Monday night one of members of the Icelandic delegation (Viggi) and the Irish singer all the night long played on guitars and sang songs of group U2.
Icelandic song Open Your Heart has been chosen after shown on February, 15 2003 on TV of the national final contest, where for the right to represent Iceland competed fifteen songs. Open Your Heart became the outright winner, having collected twice more points than the song which has occupied the second place, and four times more, than the song which has occupied the third place. In fourth time Iceland is represented on Eurovision Song Contest by a song, which text is written in English.
