News of the Eurovision Song Contest 2005

•   The British newspaper  “Times” informs, that it may be not enough money to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2005  at Ukraine. “Ukranians have woken up on Monday made sober a mind about huge sum of money, which should be spent for hosting of this Contest at the next year. It may be strong impact to find about 5 million dollars only on hosting song show at the country where third of population lives below the breadline level”. (proUA.com)
  
  
•   The honourable hoster of  festival  Tavrijsky Games  and the general director of telechannel  ICTV, Alexander Bogutsky declares, that the “Palace of  Sport” can become a only one place, where it is possible to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 at present time, but this Palace should be repaired. He said also that there is no corresponding hall for hosting of  Contest at Kiev now, it is necessary to build a new concert hall. Alexander Bogutsky considers that it is absolutely real to build such hall during a year at Kiev. For example, such special hall for hosting similar action has been constructed at Baltic . •   Representatives of the National broadcasting company of  Ukraine (NTKU) declare, that the  Eurovision Song Contest 2005 at Kiev will be hosting in the Kiev’s International Exhibition Center, or in the “Expoplaza” center. (proUA.com)

•   Alexander Omelchenko, the mayor of Kiev, declares that at 2005 Kiev is not ready to host participants of the Eurovision Song Contest 2005, because “there are no concert halls at the city, which are correspond to necessary standards” . According to mayor, there is no hall at Kiev, which is capable to accept all spectators and participants of the Contest, i.e. hall with capacity of 15-20 thousand persons. The biggest building of such type at city - the “Palace of  Sport”. But it can contain 8-10 thousand persons only and it does not correspond to the European standards. (Вести.ru)
  
  
•   Yaroslav Bystrushkin, the president of  festival “ Seagull ” declares, that the Eurovision Song Contest 2005  may become a shame for Ukraine if country will not concern responsibly to the organization of  Contest. By his opinion, there is not present and will not appear at Kiev the best concert hall for hosting of the Eurovision, than the “Palace Ukraine”. The hall has been constructed for hosting of party congresses, and consequently it already only by acoustic parameters may be not best, but only one place, where Kiev can accept singers from Europe. The deputy director of  the “Palace Ukraine”, Sergey Usenko confirms, that now it is the best hall for hosting mass shows not only at Kiev, but also at all Ukraine. It has a modern hardware but it is not known yet, whether organizers of the Contest  will accept this hall. (Корреспондент.net)

•     Ruslana Lyzhichko  has been appointed the adviser on public principles of  Victor Yanukovich, the prime minister of  Ukraine. According to  ITAR-TASS,  the decision about  Ruslana’s  assignment has been promulgated after prime-minister has met the winner of the  Eurovision Song Contest 2004  at morning. However, a little bit later the female singer will specify, that she is “the adviser of chairman of Organizing committee of hosting of the “Eurovision - 2005”. Ruslana declares to journalists, that she has discussed forthcoming hosting of  the Contest at Ukraine with prime-minister and she is ready to assist the government in the organization of this Contest. The female singer considers, that the Eurovision 2005  “should be fantastic at Ukraine“. (Эксперт-Центр).
  
  
•   The project of  the decision “About measures on preparation of hosting at Ukraine 50-th anniversary European Song Contest “Eurovision” (№ 5543) was been registered in Parliament (Supreme Rada) of Ukraine. Initiators of this document were people's deputies from fraction “Наша Україна” - Oksana Bilozir, Nikolay Tomenko, Peter Poroshenko, Nikolay Bagraev from group “ Народний вибір ” and independent deputy Alexander Zinchenko. It is offered to address to the president of Ukraine with the offer of formation of  Organizing committee on preparation of  hosting of  the Contest, and it is offered to the Cabinet of Ukraine to develop and realize a complex of actions on preparation for hosting of  the Contest  in this document. Deputies consider, that duly acceptance of the decision will promote worthy preparation for hosting of  Contest  “Eurovision”. (proUA.com)
  
  
•   The administration of capital of  Ukraine plans to determine the place of  hosting at Kiev at 2005 the Eurovision Song Contest within a month. The first deputy of Head of capital administration, the Chief of  Economic and Development Department of capital - Valery Borisov - declares the following - “we understand the responsibility which was assigned to Kiev. And we have year to adequately prepare to host this action. We already work on this question, and all decisions that are necessary for realization of the project, will be accepted and executed”. The “Palace of  Sport” was declared as a probable place of  hosting of  the Contest, it is considering the opportunity of construction of a cinema-concert complex on the left coast of  Dnepr or finishing of construction of covered sports arena near National Expocentre also. •   Alexander Sendega, the governor of the Lvov area expresses readiness to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2005  at Lvov. (ЛІГАБізнесІнформ)

•   The prime minister of  Ukraine Victor Yanukovich charges to form urgently Organizing committee on hosting at Ukraine the Eurovision Song Contest 2005. It is supposed to consider and ratify structure of Organizing committee at its nearest session. The Head of the government agrees to head this Committee. It is still solved the problem about a place of  hosting of  the Contest at Kiev: may be one of available halls will be adapted, or may be new hall will be constructed . (ITAR-TASS)
  
  
•   Ruslana Lyzhichko  is sure that “Kiev can host the 50-th, anniversary Eurovision Song Contest on a worthy level”. (proUA.com)
  

•   Alexander Omelchenko, mayor of  Kiev city, declares that the capital administration plans to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 in the  Kiev’s International Exhibition Center  located on the left coast of  Dnepr. It is necessary to complete additional pavilion of this center (its area will be about 6 000 m²) for this purpose. An estimated cost of the project is about 18-20 million grivnas. Delegation of  Kievgoradministratsii is going to go to Riga and to Turkey to study experience of  hosting of the Contest at next week. Mayor is confident, that Kiev  “Eurovision”  will be better than previous. (Новiй Канал)

•   The president of  Ukraine - Leonid Kuchma - signs the Decree “About hosting of the song contest “ Eurovision - 2005 ”. The document has been issued with the purpose of maintenance of  the appropriate organization and hosting at Ukraine at 2005 song contest  “ Eurovision - 2005 ”. The president takes under his patronage hosting of  the Contest.
  
  On the basis of this document:
  
  
  1. The Organizing committee on preparation and hosting of  “ Eurovisions - 2005 ” is created. The prime minister of Ukraine Victor Yanukovich is appointed the Chairman of this committee
  2. It is entrusted to the Cabinet of  Ukraine to ratify personal structure of organizing committee during two weeks, to develop and ratify a plan of measures on preparation and hosting of the song contest  “ Eurovisions - 2005 ”
  3. The Cabinet and Kiev city administration should provide realization of the specified plan of measures, to solve questions of financing at 2004 of the expenses concerning to preparation and hosting of the contest, and to provide corresponding expenses in projects of  budgets for 2005
  4. It is entrusted to State Committee of  TV and broadcasting to organize wide notification in mass-media the actions on preparation and hosting of the contest  “ Eurovisions - 2005 ”. (proUA.com)

•   Minister of culture of  Ukraine - Yury Bogutsky - informs, that already there are investors who are ready to finance construction of concert complex at Kiev for hosting of  the Eurovision Song Contest 2005. (proUA.com)
